This was surely the hardest one yet because of the mixtures of styles. I naively tried to bring in that organic drawings that were on the top part (flower) and the bottom part(horse legs) and struggled to make anything work. I decided to take it back to what I have learnt so far and started from there. I think there’s a lot of room to play with this, hopefully I can revisit and fix and add some things. The top part consists of flowers, It represented a range of feelings so I tried to keep the emotions as similar as I could in addition to ranging colors. The middle part is my fish which was easy enough to draw once I put an outline and filled the stroke to get rid of the unwanted scales. The horses legs were quite straight forward (literally),
I also realized the difficulties in manipulating shapes. Before I would be more easy on the exact outcome, but this time around I tried to see how much control I could get over these shapes. It was difficult and time consuming but things are starting to make more sense. I had an easier time with other shapes because I drew out a grid in illustrator and plotted these shapes so it was easier to visualize and translate. One thing I want to look at mastering in the near future are loops, looking at my code right now could be much more simple and effective. I tried a few tutorials and looked into implementing loops but unfortunately I couldn’t quite get it to work properly. I am getting in the habit of taking what I already know and translating to this program and that has been very helpful. I visualize how illustrator treats shapes and points and try to do the same. Though I am terrible with numbers and coordinates its getting there with practice.
Shivanjali’s horse legs: the Inspiration of the horse animal legs I drew comes from, the renaissance art period sculptures. Also reflecting the values of strength, power and courage.

Reflection
the three parts I had, the top represented a range of emotions, the middle nurturing (my fish being a school teacher) and the legs that held them up. I think this holds up. Jiayue’s flower heads(Jiayue: I imagine each of the flowers to have different personalities and moods.) represents moods, perhaps in light of online learning and maybe in the context of life. Shivanjali used different kinds of art movements for her drawing, and I got the legs, which to her stood for strength. With our modularity theme this week, it was a great insight into looking at organizing your code so that it will translate on another canvas. With detailed commenting and organized code blocks modularity is not only the ability to switch 'parts' it is also the ability to be user friendly in recognizing said parts.
